It all began with New Years Eve. We had an amazing turnout...full house. We put
on a beer pong tournament which never actually finished until the next day. The 
champagne was flowing for midnight, so much so there was a streak of it dried on the ceiling the next day. We were hemming and hawing about opening or closing on New Years Day, and decided to open...it's going to be a slow one, right? Well, half the crowd from the night before showed up, sang, danced, played beer pong and made our day fantastically entertaining.Glenn and I braced for the "slow season" we assumed would be January. It was always the slowest in our business experience in Calgary. Well, the Piapot Mixed Bonspiel dispelled that myth with a vengeance! It started the weekend after New Years, and was steady from Sunday to the next Saturday, 11am to 3am each day!!
We even dubbed a few folks Customers of the Week, although their prize was one very large T-Shirt...luckily they like to share. One of our staff members attempted to label them appropriately, but as you can read, it ended up going in a different direction. Too much fun!
Our next big event was St. Patty's Day, 
and we expected a good crowd. WELL!!! 
Good doesn't cut it, because half the SW Saskatchewan showed up in the best greenery to enjoy our libations of green beer and paralyzers! It was such a great crowd, and we had a blast working like dogs to keep them fed and watered. To quote one of our townies, Wardy,"and a good time was had by all."
Our gift shop has become a great hit. We've been diligent in outfitting all the finest folks in the SW with bunny-hugs (hoodies or kangaroo jackets for those NOT from SK), T-shirts, tank tops, jean jackets, Roper shirts and oodles of undies, if you can believe it! Our Property of Piapot Saloon booty shorts are one of our tops sellers! Although, we recommend you wear them UNDER your pants ;)
Glenn has been a very busy boy, renovating and organizing the Piapot Gift Shop. It is coming together quite nicely,
with a few extras from local artists, which we think is a great addition to our clothing line and Glenn's fabulous photography. On the topic of Piapot Photography Studio, Glenn's amazing works are flying off the walls faster than we can print them. There are many happy admirers of art that have a piece of Piapot hanging in their homes.Plans are in place for our First Anniversary and 80th Anniversary of the building. Look for a party announcement on our facebook group The Piapot Saloon Kicks Ass for details. We're looking at the beginning of June.
We have been furiously planning our Piapot Ride Bike Rally on August 22, 2009. Bands are booked, sound is booked, toilets are booked...now quite a few other essentials and a whole lot of organizing and building, and we're ready! Check out the website www.piapotride.com
Well, that's our last few months in a coconut shell. Speaking of coconuts...Malibu Rum, anyone?
